Business Micros is supporting a team from 33 Squadron who are taking on this year’s Welsh 1000 fell race challenge, aiming to raise £33000 for the Anthony Nolan and ABF The Soldiers Charities.
The industry’s leading software provider is making a donation to both charities and providing Business Micros branded T-shirts and hoodies for the team to wear.
Business Development Manager Nick Bailey (pictured with Staff Sgt Lee Hamblett) explained: “I spoke at this regiment’s leadership day last year on the topic of managing and empowering staff and have stayed in touch since then. As a business, this fits perfectly with our culture of giving back and also appeals to our sense of adventure.”
The Welsh 1000 challenges athletes to take on the five highest mountains in Wales, starting at sea level and finishing on top of Snowdon. Competitors have to navigate the 32km course for themselves within an 8-hour time limit, meaning it’s a test of strength, endurance and map reading.
The 2020 Welsh 1000, taking place on 6 June, will the 50th running of the race and is expected to attract teams from across the military as well as from running clubs, mountain rescue groups and charity fundraisers.
